Is it that circular piece of plastic what holds the plastic cover in place?

No that's just a cover to access the sunroof mechanism so you can wind it manually if needs be. All the clips are hidden.

Peel it down gently from the front edge and you can peek in to start seeing them, then reach in with you fingers round either side of each clip and pull it away.

Have you ever had to replace the rear washer pipe?

No, but I've had it all exposed and spent ages flushing it through, why?

It will be gunged up inside, yes. It shouldn't have rotted or gone brittle though.

It runs along the top of the pass side inner sill, rear quarter panel and then up the C pillar on that side.
So you need to remove:
  • Pass side front footwell kick panel
    Plastic inner sill cover
    Pass rear seat base and back
    Pass rear lower and upper quarter trim panels
    then peel the carpet away from the sill along the passenger side.
Sounds a lot but it all comes part pretty easily really.

The tube then exits through the passenger A pillar and runs along the inner front wing to the washer bottle (remove the front arch splash guard to get access to all this).

I wish I'd replaced mine when I happened to have all that trim off, instead of fannying about trying to flush it clean (which is only partially successful).

I might have some pics showing where it runs if that would be helpful?

Ok, can't find any showing the rear quarter panel or along the front wing - you might find the front wing pics in either lucas's or nafemannathan's 4th gen build threads, as part of their wire tucking.

Other pics from inside the car though;
