I like my air con. Playas with true swag use their aircon with their sunroof open.

Thanks guys.

Lewis, my car is by no means a track car, and never will be. I prefer the comfort my air con (previously) gave me.

Should be a sticker as said dude, a lot of ludes got the conversion to run R134 after they binned the R12. Guessing I would say yours will be R134, this is handy as halfrauds do top up gas too, bit pricey but after buying a can and gauge/filler you get £20 off your next can when the empty is taken for recycling.

Even if the gas has been changed over though, the connectors are a different size to modern systems (smaller) so you'll find plenty/most places won't touch it.

Also to bear in mind there's a difference in the lube qualities of 12 to 134 (134 has less) so my local A/V guy puts in some additional oil to ensure the compressor doesn't get knackered.

Its not the quantity of oil but the type R12 use mineral where as R134a uses POE or something along though lines. In essence you can't just dump a newer gas in, it will not work correctly with the oil and also the expansion valve will be set differently so it will not work as efficiently.

The posts above are correct there should be a sticker or plate with the information and R12 will have smaller screw type charging ports. It is possible to by adaptors to change the port type and then use a diy style can just look on eBay. The reason car garages won't touch it is because R12 will contaminate their machine.

I recommend looking for a refrigeration company to charge it for you, just don't let them put R409a (fx56) in as it is reported to eat the rubber seals in automotive ac .
