The bigger bitchhhh...

Post by col1986 » Sun Aug 24, 2014 2:28 am

Sooooo I sold my scooby WRX an wanted something different... Thought throughout the 4x4 scene and saw only one winner really... A Land Rover Discovery 300tdi... Lifted 2" immaculate body work and underneath its solid! So really I get the off road fun of the landy plus better fuel economy than the lude (whilst also being able to fit my fat ass in it comfortably  )... Also this will give me chance to focus on the little niggles on the lude and get her sorted properly as I won't need her for everyday driving.... I was actually considering investing in another lude but I have always wanted to try a bit of off road jobby so had to go for a 4x4 :hurr:

I've had a few of these, almost bought another at the beginning of the year but unfortunately bought a p38 range rover instead :( . The 300 tdi is good for 35-40 mpg. When you go through heavy mud or snow they are a bit underpowered but unstoppable. Looks like a nice example, hope you enjoy it.

Had a look at the chassis, is it sound?
I have kleptomania,
But when it gets bad,
I take something for it.

I've been going down muddy slopes in my Isuzu and found myself not being able to stop the bloody thing due to the weight of it. I don't think that was what he meant though

At any rate, OP good shout for buying a 4x4 mate, they're definitely man toys and I love driving mine 8-)

What I meant was that when the 4wd system starts having to really work hard the engine seems to really struggle, but never actually stops pulling the car along. Ive had 5 people and luggage driving through 3-4 foot of snow and you always think its about to stall but never does, ive never been stuck in any of mine. I also have an uncle and cousin who are gamekeepers on an estate with 1500 foot grouse moors and lots of wooded areas and glens, the discovery's have never been stuck but ive had to rescue my cousin"s mitsibushi l200 a few times
