12/04/14 - TrackScotland

Post by Merlin » Sun Apr 13, 2014 12:23 am

My back box piping is rotten and is blowing so I patched it up so I could get through Staturdays track time. I felt the exhaust was holding my engine back so it is just as well it is booked in on Monday to get a custom 3" exhaust and have the flat spots taken off my Fujitsubo 8-)

12/04/14 - TrackScotland

Format - 2 hour open pit
Cost - £80
Conditions - Cold, windy and the occasional drizzle (typical Knockhill weather)

There is nothing other to say that it was drokking epic!

The new rear Ferodo discs were glowing blue
Image

No track front bumper today, a screw up with the towing loop meant I couldnt use that bumper
Image

The brakes with new Gunmetal Rota Torque's with Federal 595 RSR semislicks.
Image

I wasnt getting any locking up front or rear and it felt like the car still had good balance. I dont have a brake bias valve installed. Some sloppyish laps but still to properly learn my braking zones.

No new passenger seat yet as we ran out of time to get the brackets sorted out

That was my one and only practice for the first round of Super Lap Scotland next Sunday. Today with a few scruffy laps I beat my old PB by 4 seconds, putting a time that should be competitive in SLS 8-)

Well that looks fooking impressive

Fantastic stuff! :D

Expected to be impressed by the poke or brakes or cornering/grip, but not all of them! 8-)

This thing really looks like it's lived up to expectations. Brilliant work, mate. Just brilliant.

The car looks absolutely awesome, well done!

Can't believe how quickly you've done this and how great a job it is to go with that. 8-)
Is the cage getting spray painted? Black?

drokk me, those discs are nearly as big as your hands!!!

(Also, loving the wonky washer jet ;) ) :D

It sounds like an absolute animal, too  and it just ate that Caterham for breakfast!!! 8-)

Thanks guys. Yesterday was a huge releif that the car was sort of finished on time and that nothing broke on track.

Old PB was roughly 66s and yesterday got an approximate 62s. Tidying up my driving, developing the car more, and more favourable track conditions (yesterday was a bit cold and had the od spots of rain) should see me approaching the 60s barrier. The new exhaust should free up some power plus I have a load of other mods still to do.

Yeah the work has been pretty full on :D I will try and get the inside of the car sprayed later this year. I do have new washer jets but havent fitted them yet.
