Thanks, nice to have some other cars in a vid for once. I still have no idea what he was up to. TBH I dont think he realised I was there.

A few pics:

The fubar'd wheel arch liner that got cheese grated across the track. Like that it wont stop much water so it has been swapped for a new one courtesy of Macaroon.

Are those seats with 'ears' still allowed on the track ?

The seat with the side impact head restraint? Of course, why wouldn't they?

For a track day you can just about have any seat you like, so long as it is safe/sturdy. For competition you need an FIA approved seat, some competitions require you to have a seat & harness in date, other competitions just require that they were once dated and once passed the FIA test.

Ok.
I searched for it on the internet and found out that it was just the Nürburgring where they changed that.
No seats with ears allowed aswell as HANS system harnesses. For safety reasons.

I just googled that and found out why they don't allow them, it wasn't for "safety" in the usual sense. It is because the Nurburgring is still classed as a public road rather than a track when the public are on it.
Some online blog wrote:Bucket seats: Note the use of the word "full". It's believed that the true meaning of this statement is aimed at 'wrap-around' seats with neck restraints, the type you'd see in top-end GT cars. These restrict head movement and totally prevent over-the-shoulder checks before you change lanes. REMEMBER the Nordschleife during public sessions is a normal road. You cannot drive it like a race, only looking forward. When traffic approaches you from behind you have to yield and move over to the right. It's not a race. You can't just keep looking forward and hope that nobody tries to overtake.

My Cobra Evolution race seat is actually pretty good for sideways and rear quarter view. My roll cage is what blocks my rear quarter view rather than my seat. Not to worry though as that is what mirrors are for .

According to those rules my road legal track car inst allowed on the Nurburgring on a public day because of my race seat, removable steering wheel, and door bars of the cage.
