I think in the grand scheme of temperature in a roots supercharger setup, the main place to focus on is air temp after the charger - water/meth injection or a chargecooler. But every little helps, not stopping me making a custom airbox with a headlight duct. Some kind of throughflow to aid cooling the superchargers cooling fins 'should' have a greater impact. Something a little more achievable on your setup, but could mean hacking up a bonnet?

I still think you'd be mad not to design a chargecooler setup for yours (and mine :cough: ), given your work and area of expertise.

I do think there is an inlet temp limit on the blowers that when exceeded you risk lobe to casing contact. Somebody mentioned this is as low as 50c, however that sounds a bit suspect to me. I suppose the colder the air going in the colder the air out nomatter if its chargecooled or not. A chargecooler is definitely required for running more boost but I feel these small 6 x 4 x 2" charge coolers they run in the states are a tad on the small side!

Some active cooling to the case would be a good idea, right now I am investigating rear mounted rads to see what effects they have on the car with respect to aerodynamics, fuel efficiency, engine temp stability etc..

That is quality, but surely the sleeper look is better.

Hah, 2.0 badges aren't a bad idea!

There isn't going to be a big update in a while as we have been working on spray painting & aero modding our Mondeo we bought for our Eurotrip. As soon as I get back the Lude will be taken off the road again for some more fine tuning, got a few things to sort out, some are fine tuning, some are for economy and some are for more power

1. Softer engine mount to sort out vibration issues above 3k rpm.
2. Spray paint inside of headlights.
3. Vacuum operated cold & hot air intake.
4. Rear mounted radiator to reduce heat soak of engine bay & for reduced drag.
5. Full grill blocks, top & bottom.
6. Design & fit a charge cooler.
7. Wiring to tidy up.

Fuel Economy: I cannot remember what the H22 was getting me, but I could never get it above 37mpg with a lot of 65mph motorway cruising, this was the book figure afterall so that wasn't bad. After hitting the motorway yesterday and doing a bit of pulse and glide I was able to hit 41.5mpg, however my gauge has not been calibrated so unsure how completely accurate that is. I have filled up a full tank and when I come to fill up again I shall have some figures to calibrate the gauge with and we can see if that was off at all. Thats a good base to work from and hopefully we shall see 45mpg+ by the end of the year.
Hopefully I can have my cake and eat it too :)

That sounds like serious work?

Result on the fuel economy!

In all honesty its no going to be as much work as my original custom front radiator, infact from what I was planning with my tuct rad & rad shroud its going to be easier! For piping I was thinking of using AN16 hose and routing it front to back with some cable ties and brackets to keep it up and out the way. The rad is not going to encroach on the inside of the car at all, there seems to be just enough room to fit one between the inside boot wall and the rear bumper. By being able to block off the front entirely I would be suprised if I didn't gain 1mpg.

Holy jobby balls lol. I've taken the time to read every bit of this. ;) Well done chap, I've never seen attention to detail in a build like this before :D :D
