You never said you had a 5th gen
I have kleptomania,
But when it gets bad,
I take something for it.

So, I've had someone round to look at the sills, and they're a lot worse than I thought last week.

They basically fell apart in his hands :( In fact his words at the time were "oh, hello Mr Filler" - yet more evidence against Mr Cowboy  He thinks that the previous repair wasn't really a repair, but all he did was tack new metal over the old rusty stuff, rather than actually cut out the rot.

Here's some pics:

He's quoted me £150-200 per side to sort it out, depending on what else he might find when the outside is cut off.

Add this to the ~£200 at MOT time to get the car roadworthy again, and this is really looking not good for me. I'm at a time when I can't keep throwing money at an old car, to use it for less than 3,000 miles a year. This is without looking at replacing the arches which are rusting again, but I could live with for this year.

I've put a lot of money into the car, and don't want to see it go or be broken, but I can't keep going forever. At over 222,000 miles, it's had a good innings.

This is going to take a lot of deliberation :(

It might be a good quote, but I need to look at the bigger picture

Do a gay test, if you come back positive the scrap the car, negative then get the sand out of your gash and repair it!

That is a good price if he'll do a neat job.
What's the other £200 for come MOT time?
