Re: Merlin's 4G Track Lude - Finished, on the road, MOT'd, d

Thanks. I love the way she sounds

I am very interested in what she will make in the dyno. @Dino when you had the engine dyno'd you didn't have the MFactory final drive installed at that time did you? Doing a bit of reading on what WHP figure to expect I read something surprising (to me anyway), a final drive that provides shorter gearing will give a lower WHP value than a stock final drive.

This explains how Indigolemon got a higher WHP value than my 5th gen when we were on the dyno last time even though I had a higher flywheel HP. His H22a with H23 gearbox (M2K4?) will have a final drive of 4.062 while my H22a8's M2P4 has a final drive ratio of 4.266.

The relevance of this? Ignoring the "Dyno - its only an indicator of power" etc... it is actually very beneficial for me. Next year I plan to enter Super Lap Scotland, a fastest lap series like UK Time Attack. Classes are based on WHP/T with the limit for the class I am aiming to compete in being 225 WHP/T. Since my car will be producing an artificially low WHP figure I will most likely meet the power/weight limit and may actually be able to loose more weight without the danger of having to go up to the class above 8-)

The dyno may well read the WHP as sightly lower but on the track performance will be up on the stock final drive.

Al. It was dyno'd with the 4.64 Fd mate.
Hope that helps.

Good. Hopefully I will achieve something in the same ball park. I know they probably wont be the same, you were on a Maha and I will be going on a Dyno Dynamics RR.

My UKDM was weighed at the last MOT as well. 932kg front wheels, 593kg back wheels (1525kg overall, 61/39 % distribution). That included the tester being in the car of course!

Don't know what the standard weights are for the car :?
Mine is a fully loaded UKDM though plus I've added sound deadening, additional ICE and there was a fair bit of jobby in the car too (I didn't know it was going to be weighed). Next time round I'll make sure it's just the bare car so I get a better idea! :D

:? Oh yeah and before any 5th genners get in on the act... :bat: I guess mine has less rust/more solid metal than most 4th gens?

It should be in the 1300 - 1350kg region.
