So a couple of loose bolts on the pressure plate (how loose is loose btw?) and a release bearing that didn't feel as nice as the new OEM item...

What was the actual cause of the squealing do you think?

I don't know what the squealing was. I would be guessing. One pressure plate bolt was about half off and four others came off very easily. When they were installed we put them in with the thread lock that came with the ARP flywheel bolts and torqued them to OEM spec.

It is all fixed now anyway with new bolts and a bearing. I took the car out for half an hour tonight and it felt good.

Could the squealing not be caused by some sort of resonance in the loose bolts?

Ratty IMO you will deffo need new flywheel bolts. It is up to you if you swap out the CC release bearing and get new pressure plate bolts. I wasn't sure if my CC bearing was funny or not and I wasn't going take the chance.

Super Lap Scotland Team 2014 - TrackScotland

Post by Merlin » Wed Feb 26, 2014 9:31 am

The start of Super Lap Scotland is 7 weeks away and once my cage is in the car is not too far away. Apart from a few things like battery relocation and ignition cut off switches I have all the parts I need.

For SLS this year they are introducing a team championship (like a constructors championship in F1) to run parallel with the individual championship. The team championship allows up to four entrants to group together to make a team, with the two highest scoring participants from each team putting points in for the team. I was asked if I wanted to join the team representing TrackScotland.

In my team will be:

Graham Davidson with his 450 whp 3.0 Twin Turbo V6 ford duratec Noble M400 (Class Pro)
Image

Adam Kindness with this 380 whp Subaru Impreza (Class B)
Image

David Long with his 200+ whp 2.0 Duratec HE Caterham R400 (Class B)
Image

And me with a 180ish whp 2.2 VTEC Prelude  (Class D)

It is hopeful that we will be in different classes so we wont be competing against each other and can get a good points haul 8-)

There is a trophy for the winners of each class for each round, plus the outright individual and team trophies at the end of the season.

Not trying to be funny here and I might be wrong but the stuff supplied with arp bolts is a lube and not a locking fluid :?
