Engine management light comes on at 40mph

No, not in the key of C. An H is likely involved though ...

Engine management light comes on at 40mph

Post by Red motegi » Mon May 20, 2013 5:47 pm

Ok, this is a bit of a long story, so I will condense, basically after doing an engine transplant (have done others) my 5gen drives fine but the engine management light comes on at about 40, my mrs still used the car, although because she works local it didn't usually get the warning light, if you turn the car on and leave it at idle there is no problem whatsoever, but when the car is taken any distance over 2-3miles it can be prone to stalling, it doesn't hunt on idle it just stalls, but not all the time.
It has been on diagnostic machines at 2 garages (neither admittedly Honda) and neither could find the issue,
I do have an advert on here as was intending to break the car, but I am thinking of fixing and weighing in against a dc5 now.
Does anybody have an idea what the problem could be?

Nope, forgive my stupidity but I haven't, and due to work I can't do that while weekend?
The thing I don't understand is it always starts and runs, no problem , take her over 40 and the light comes on, she will stall however even if the light hasn't come on during driving, obviously I've not took it to vtec stage because I didn't want to bugger something,,,.. It can't be that bad can it??

Deffo pull the code then go from there, it's simple to do and only takes a few minutes.

It will tell you why the engine light is coming on, saves us all guessing
