5th Gen 2.2 VTi - £800

Post by mr_pea » Mon Mar 23, 2015 11:45 am

Reluctant sale of my Honda Prelude 2.2 VTI.

I bought this car as I needed an automatic following an operation on my knee. Unfortunately, the gearbox went a couple of months after I bought the car so I sourced a reconditioned gearbox and had it installed (at great expense). Unfortunately, the "reconditioned" gearbox also failed last April (a couple of weeks after it went through it's MOT), so the car has not been driven since then.

I had intended on keeping the car as it is unusually rust free, but my wife doesn't want us to have 2 preludes so we are keeping our green 5th gen.

I had intended on converting the car to manual and keeping it (I have purchased a complete manual conversion for the car which will be included in the sale and also a spare H22 engine), but due to a change in my working life (I spend quite a lot of time away) and other commitments, I just have not had the time to swap the gearboxes over and complete the conversion (one of my other cars has taken priority to me and this one has fallen by the wayside).

Good points (see pictures):

Remarkably clean bodywork with no/little rust (the arches are very clean and have not suffered the usual Prelude fate, underside is very good and there is no rust in sunroof area at all - the only reason I bought this car was the condition of it).

Full Motegi bodykit.

Very good engine and engages VTEC nicely with no smoke (when the car worked, but as it is an auto it has not had a hard life).

Completely stock car with no modifications (other than a cd player) and the 4ws still works.

Full manual conversion included (you will need to buy gearbox oil).

Spare H22 engine.

Bad points:

Short MOT (expires 31/03/2015 - however only done approx 500 miles since last MOT).

Auto gearbox does not engage (full manual conversion included).

Wheels could do with refurbing/replacing and tyres need replacing.

Car will need trailoring away.

Please do not let the gearbox issue put you off this car as it is one of the cleanest Preludes I have ever seen in terms of rust (the whole reason I bought this one), I would happily keep this car, but with 4 other cars and no time to swap the gearboxes over, it has to go. Viewings are welcome and recommended as I have nothing to hide on the car at all (large history will go with the car), all it needs is the gearbox swapping over and you will have a very nice 5th Gen Prelude.

I can be contacted on 07702835459 and viewings are more than welcome.

Please note, I am unable to deliver the car as I have no means of doing so and the car will need to be trailered away (including the manual conversion and spare H22 engine).

The car is located in Norwich and will need trailering away due to the gearbox issue.

Any questions, please ask or contact me on the number above.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Thank you, this is the one which I would prefer to keep, but I just don't have the time at the moment to swap gearboxes over and I won't have the space to store her soon as we will be moving.
It's a shame to see it go, but still got the green one (the keeper) which won't be going anywhere!

Thank you, I bought this for that reason as I had always planned to convert it to manual once I was able to drive a manual again, but alas, time and storage issues have forced my hand.

Good car, good price.

 I think you know someone with a trailer and I'm sure Jen would love to have another lude and h22 knocking about the place... ;-)

Out of interest Mr_pea what h22 is the spare? A? Or A5?
