Wanted! Caring home for my 1995 Prelude 2.3i 4WS Auto, which has been stood on my drive for the last 8 years under SORN. I put her through an MOT in July 2014 (which she passed with advisories regarding rusty suspension) with the intention of putting her back on the road again, but now being the proud grandfather for the seventh time, my attention is required elsewhere!
Pre MOT, I had new discs and pads fitted all round to make sure she was safe to drive to the testing station. This MOT was to find out what needed doing to make her roadworthy again – after being stood for a long time. Following the (failed) MOT, a new rear exhaust box was fitted along with some welding carried out on the rear sills; the power steering pipes sorted out; some welding done and also new wiper blades - all done by the garage to pass the MOT which expired 17/07/2015. I have since had a new radiator fitted, as advised by a mechanic I use.
I have a pile of paperwork for this 2 owner car, including V5; owner’s books; MOTs; service records (mostly main dealer) and other bills, including my purchase records from October 1999! As stated above, the car has been sitting on my driveway since 2006/7, and has been started on a regular basis to keep the engine turning over, the brakes free and to stop any flat spots developing on the tyres. However, two weeks ago, she refused to start and I don’t know why. (Maybe it’s the 8 year old fuel)?
The last time I started her, a few new noises came from what I believe to be the water pump and the power steering unit, although I am not a mechanic, and the offside window has stuck in the closed position, although I can hear the motor winding mechanism working (detached glass)?
The tyres have a great deal of mileage remaining on them; the wheels need refurbishment along with some small parts of the bodywork –mainly on the rear wheel arches and sunroof. The interior is very clean with a few scratches to the ceiling lining – caused by a rather large suitcase. She has a true mileage of 128,350 miles, electric windows; electric sunroof; cruise control; Sony 10-CD changer/radio/tape; RDS; electric aerial; twin airbags; “wrap-round” dashboard. Laserline Thatcham CAT 2 Alarm with immobiliser, and an AMG number plate!
I would wish this car to be purchased by someone who loves Preludes, and is looking for a car to restore. I am open to offers and I have been as truthful as I can with the above description, but please come and view first (in Brighton, East Sussex). Contact number is: 07958066845.
