1986 Honda Prelude 2nd Gen

Post by B00mer » Tue Jun 28, 2016 7:23 pm

Here we have my original 1986 Honda Prelude 1.8 twin carb, with only 20385 miles.
I'll start by saying the car has a fresh MOT(April 2017) and just had a full service at the same time as the MOT.

I have owned the car since July 2013 and in my ownership she has only covered a handful of miles and mainly just been stored in a garage. I bought the car with no paper work at all, so what I do have is from my ownership.

My reason for selling is basically I don't want the Lude to go to waste from not being used as well as losing the garage it was being stored in.

The first thing I had done to the car was a complete service included all oils, filters and belts, which were all genuine Honda parts (apart from one belt due to discontinued) and the receipt will be supplied.

The car is completely standard, including the original Chatsworth Honda registration plates, original Chatsworth Honda window stickers right down to the original Honda smelly included when the car was first sold. The car seems to have been waxoyled from new, which can be seen in the engine bay and in the boot behind the trims.

The car has had 2 previous owners, the first owner had the car from new up until 2013, where the second owner bought it as part of a house clearance. The mileage is incredibly low for its age, which shows as a whole to the condition of the overall car.

Interior

The dash board buttons show no signs of wear along with the buttons for the electric windows. No stickers are missing from the car nor do the ash trays look used in both the front and the back. All the controls work as they should, including the blowers both hot and cold. I have never used the electric sunroof so I couldn't comment on how well that works but it does not let in water.

The seats show no signs of wear to the base or bolsters, there are still factory stickers on the rear of the seats. Both seats slide as they should and both recline properly, being over 6' tall the amount of legroom is brilliant.

I had the armrest imported from America which was an optional extra and really fits in with the interior. The carpet is super clean which was helped by being covered by the original Honda rubber mats.

The auto box is not to everyone's liking I know, but its really smooth which makes the Lude a great cruiser.

The radio cassette player works as it should, but the rear parcel shelf speakers seem to have come apart as they sound very tappy. The door speakers are totally fine.

The boot has all the trims but I removed them for the pictures to show there was no rot. There is a spare original alloy wheel, jack and tool kit too.

Exterior

The paint work for the most part is lovely, though it does show some spots of surface rust none of which are not terrible by any means. The arches have the worst spots of rust which I have pictured, there are no holes in these areas, it just appears to be the surface effected.

The passenger side front arch may of had some paint earlier in its life as there are cracks in the paint but I cant be sure.

Both the bumpers are in great condition, though I have removed the rear trim between the boot and lights as it has seen better days, but I still have it. All the trims down the side of the car are present and in great condition. The rear spoiler is made of rubber/sponge which over the years has gone from a smooth surface to something more rough, it would be an item to change and are still easily obtained.

All the lights work as they should, including the pop-up front lights.

The suspension does creak a little if it has been standing for a time, but if you start to use the car the creaking stops altogether.

The exhaust is still the original Honda exhaust with no blowing.

The Lude sits on 13" Si wheels (including spare in the boot) which show no signs of curbing.

Spares

In the sale I will include a set of rear lights, a set of front pop-up lights in white and a set external door trims.
