5TH gen strange noise from front of car
5TH gen strange noise from front of car
Hiya maybe someone can shed a little light on this I had a mechanic give it a very quick once over today but he wasn't sure what the problem is and is of doing a bit of research, he was pretty sure it was coming from the front of the car.
When I push the accelerater pedal there is a high pitched whinning noise it's difficult to explain what it sounds like. Almost like an electric golf trolley sort of noise. This also happens when the car is parked and in neutral and the clutch is not being used. The mechanic checked the belts etc and said he thought they were okay. It's much more noticeable at lower speeds. The noise may be there all the time and I don't hear it at higher speeds because of engine noise.
Any help appreciated.

Absolutely lolwurlycorner wrote:Be careful not to get it (or you) caught in any moving parts though...
No mate it had a service about 2 months ago but just oil, filters brakes. Only started to notice it today.Stevelar_granolar wrote:When did it first start to occur? Have you had anywork done previous to this noise appearing?
Lets hope notStevelar_granolar wrote:Ie cambelt/ balance belt and tensioner renewal. As your balance belt may be too taut and need re tensioning as putting to much tension on a pulley and making the noise you are describing

No mate more high pitched than that.Stevelar_granolar wrote:Is it the same as the noise in this vid
