cracked plastic pipes

I was putting my front back on where someone had bumped it and knocked it off.without sounding stupid what are the black plastic pipes for on the offside behind the bumper they have been cracked.

Sounds like the intake resonator, which is part of the induction system.

Ok found out my cracked plastic pipes is a intake resonator thanks vtecmec now do i take it off or get a replacement i've got 5g 2.0 daily driver will make any differance on or off

If you take the bumper off (or the drivers side wheel arch splash guard) you can get to it and it is held on by 3 10mm bolts, there is also a vacuum pipe leading to it that needs disconnecting.

Try to replace it if you can, Honda went to a lot of trouble to design it, it effectively increases the length of the intake tract and limits air flow to the engine at lower revs, increasing torque at slower speeds.

Should be able to pick one up on here easily/cheaply enough. Plenty of people have removed them, so there should be some lying around.

If you're in no rush, one would be available from either my bb4 or Lisa's BB1, for starters (both have aftermarket intakes, so the resonator is no longer used).

(mec - it's staying on my BB1 with the A8 intake :ugeek: )
