Engine light

Hi can anyone help my 4th gen lude 2.0i has the engine light on and won't rev above 4000rpm I heard it may be the distributer sorry on spelling as it turn over and starts idle is very close to 500rpm and sometimes feels like its going to cut out any ideas thanks people in advance

best to pull engine code before you dive into minefield of possibilites

a honda with engine light makes me sad. never had one yet

I know where do I plug scanner in can I do it of just best to go to a garage

No scanner is needed. You just short the service connector with a piece of wire or paperclip and it flashes the codes to you on the dash.

If you check in the wiki section of the forum, there are links to the service manual and that tells you what to do and what the codes mean.

All free and it is definitely where to start 8-)

Right I've pulled the code and got 4 flashes of the engine light codes say its the crankshaft position sensor (ckp) any help on changing this please it helpful looked for engine diagram to find sensor but no look cheers

It's inside the distributor.

If it is the crank sensor, then yes a new dizzy, it's so well integrated into the dizzy that I don't think they can be changed.
