track car beepen about
Hi lads!! Haven't been on in ages but had are 4th gen 2.2 vtec out on track yesterday. Car done ok for first few sessions then as we were in pit line up it done like a missfire then went into like limp mode (coulded rev over 2rmp or so) was like a limiter.
Basically had to let it cool a way down and to ecu out and in and got an other 2 sessions out of it were it went ok. Then comen to last of session it stated to miss and hesate up in vtec land. Kept it going for few more laps then got really bad and missed all the time. Then came into pits and it went back into limp mode again. After that done ecu thing again and it came out of limp mode again but was still missing like mad and no vtec then sometimes you got a bit of vtec. Any ideas lads?

If it went into limp mode, it will have stroed a fault code to tell you what is wrong. Provided you haven't unplugged the ECU/disconnected the battery since the last time it brought up the CEL, that fault code will still be in there.
Pull the code and it will help diagnose what the problem is.
If you've reset the ECU since the last time it had the CEL, then we'll be blindly fumbling around in the dark and this will be a nightmare to diagnose... In which case, I would start with HT leads/coil/distributor fault (something breaking down in the heat). But really, without the code to start with on an intermittent fault you'll end up changing bits inconclusively without knowing if you've solved it.

Yeaaaaaaaah after all this time I got her singing again.
After going through many dizzys leads and different plugs also changing ecu and striping engine to check the timing hadn't slipped. We got to bottom of it. Was faulty injector or injectors as put 4 other injectors in with the rail and she's finnaly singing a sweet tune and tf. Can't wait to next track day. I had lost hope in her to lol.
