U2Q7 ATR gearbox into 4th gen - what to do regarding VSS?

I don't understand the hassle here, I slid the gear itself and the spline/bar/whatever you want to call it out and put it into the other VSS.
It's literally a 5 minute job, there is a simple circlip/screw/split pin or similar that holds it in, I afraid I just can't remember what as it's so long ago. :oops: I KNOW it's simple though, so a good look at the VSS should really find it.

Just trying to find some images on the net, it's not this little push clip half way up is it?:

Although I accept that you're talking about two different types of VSS, whereas mine were very similar.
The gear 'shaft' may well be a different size on yours, but for the sake of pulling out a clip it's got to be worth a look?

Parts diagram suggests what bennyboy says, is correct;

I split mine by removing the two 10mm bolts (part 16) and mating the top and bottom half in its entirety.. Always more than one way to skin a cat........

I didn't wanna start taking them apart without knowing what I was doing, this has cleared it all up I think. I'll have a go at the weekend, cheers lads

Please, make some photos. I am on the same page with my gearbox...got an ATR box, h23 box for the 5th...and trying to sort all out. Can't find any help in the wiki tho...
