If you oil level is good and you are getting no CEL lights I think you need to have dig through the 4th gen and 5th gen service manuals and go through the trouble shooting flow charts. It will get you to check things like oil pressure sensors and ECU connections etc......

What ECU do you have?

If it's JDM, should be a P13.

Is the engine getting up to normal running temperature (and staying there)?

Merlin wrote:It should be. The H22a2 and H22a5 have the same part number according to Lings. The H22a shouldn't be different to the H22a2.

What is broken on your one? I need to swap the VTEC solenoid pressure switch from an H22a2 (my spare engine) to my H22a.

I am just going to take the solenoid of the h22a5 and do a straight switch. Will this be ok???
Seems a easy fix as i am unsure what is wrong.

I cant see it doing any harm. If there is a difference that causes it to not function properly VTEC will not engage. It should be fine though.

Kool. Thought this might be. Read on american forum that jdm h22a solenoid is different to new ludes because of the ecu or the way the ecu reads it is different or some jobby? Any truth in this???
How tight do you need to do up the solenoid? Worried about round of threads or getting a leak.
Can a small leak cause no vtec engagement through loss of presure? Thank for your help
