in terms of k&n ive looked for one but none seem to fit 5g?! would i need a specialist to do these things resonator, manifold etc or would your everyday mechanic be able?

5th gen and 4th gen airbox are the same (correct me if I'm wrong anyone?) so if the flat panel filter is listed for 4g, it will be fine for you. Alternatively used one for sale here

Wouldn't need a specialist for removing the resonator (you can do it yourself) or fitting a manifold, no - an every day mechanic would be able to do them. You'd need to explain to them what needed doing on removing the resonator though, because unless they know the car/have done one before they'd just go

IMO if you want more power you have the wrong model of Prelude. The auto is a second or more slower to 60 than manual versions. To at least equal the difference in performance you are going to have to pump a large chunk of cash into the car. It would be cheaper to sell the auto and buy a manual, it would be an instant upgrade and you dont need to live in the fear that the autobox is going to chuck it.

Stock autos are around 150 whp while manuals are closer to 170 whp.

you don't know how many people have said that to me prelude-22! lol I totally agree with you but that's a serious amount of work needed just to get it to fully manual!

I hear you man and no I don't need to drive auto at all touch wood perfectly healthy! but through the period when I had the cash for a car a civic or prelude was on the agenda this one popped up with full service history previously owned by doctor all its life so I knew albeit auto trans it would be a good runner and it ain't let me down yet just fancied getting that wee bit extra out it and affordable ways to do that.

Many of the views have been cracking and going ahead with resonator, intake and will look at manifold later on through the journey. well glad I joined this forum!

yeah there only sixty bucks but your right come testing time off on off on! starting to think it altogether too much hassle pimping the auto lude and leaving it in its original glory!

I think that's a sensible idea. I used to have an auto 5th gen and it was a lovely comfortable cruiser, would be a shame to ruin that.

right I went for it just fitted aem v2 induction and I tell you what a difference alone! looking into sport manifold now but all manifolds are either non vtec or for 4th gen? I asked the seller if it would fit mine but he didn't have a clue anyone able to shed light on manifold sellers and what fits what please? derrick.

if its non vtec it wont fit a h22 there isn't a lot of difference between the 4g and 5g manifolds

Improve power to weight ratio.. put your car on a diet by ripping out all non essentials, that is the easiest and cheapest (i.e. free) way to go faster.
