Excellent good news then! My mate said he would help me do it. I got it for £20 from a local car dealership. Not as really hopefully it fixes the problem.

Right thermostat fitted and the problem is still the same. Next option please help? It's killing my petrol!!!!

coolant temp sensor what does the car idle at ? do the revs drop down to a low idle ? are both coolant pipes hot after a run

Both pipes are hot, and where could I find the sensor? Revs fine, high when first turned on as usual then drops back down. Nothing unusual

so if both pipes are hot that rules out the thermostat if it revs high then drops down that rules out the fitv it doesn't hunt so that rules out the iacv and an airlock.
So all we are left with is a knackered temp sensor that may stop vtec but wont affect mpg

whats the issue with your mpg? a lude isn't the most economical car
