See that great big hole in the middle, i think you will find a lot of the oil will run back in through thereSiR_Chris wrote:here's the one PAW did for mine prior to welding in if it helps

That hole doesn't end up being as big as it looks - the strainer and pipe fills it up, looking at the fb pics with those installed in it.
The fb plate doesn't have the extra holes round the side that the plate in the PAW plate does (the PAW one being the one that you've shown there). The FB one is just one flat plate for the oil to land on and then get thrown left and right in the upper part of the sump, rather than drained down to the strainer.

Guys.
Firstly let me clear one thing up... our sump baffles are not a copy or "based on" anything. the one pictured by Chris is actually the result of many variations of design and PROPER testing on track where it matters. Our baffle design as you can see incorporates 2 vertical planes as well as the usual flat plate (which isn't enough on it's own), one around the pickup and one at half distance between oil pickup and sump end. These have been incorporated for specific reasons which I'll not go into here.
Oil drain back is as much an important factor in baffle design as the plates are are stopping the surge in the first place. You may well think that the big hole for the pickup is enough but trust me it really isn't. The sheer volume of oil moved around a H22 block is quite incredible especially at the higher end of the revs, oil needs a direct path back to the underside of the sump otherwise starvation will still occur.....trust me, this has been discovered in real terms!!
I'm not going to start knocking or bashing other people's products but I have seen baffle plates for H22's offered before which are simialr to the FB one linked to here - these are ok for street protection (not that it's really necessary) but for serious use they are not up to it. The FB one sits too low in the sump, has no vertical planes and does not have enough drain back ability.
I hand make our baffle setups as and when I have a sump to do, there are significant sump variations between the H22a7 and H22a/a2 which means you cannot use one for the other. There are in fact also some small variations between early and later H22a/a2 sump pans but this is only minor and just requires a slightly different trim in a couple of areas of the baffle.
Fitting height and position is crucial, so for that reason and the fact that we don't have ability in house to laser cut bulk quantities without outsourcing mean that we will only produce/fabricate the baffle plates as and when we need them and have a sump to install them into.
By all means if you want a sump done, we can do this for you but you will need to send us a good condition sump - we used to offer an exchange service but some people's ideas of "a good condition sump" for exchange left a lot to be desired and we got burned. The time it takes to fabricate and install the baffles meant it just wasn't worth continuing to offer this service.
Like I said, if you want one done, we can do it. Send us a sump and we'll baffle it properly, cost is £120+ vat and return postage.

Well i hope @performanceAutoworks don't think i was having a pop there because i wasn't. I was purely pointing out the fact that a lot, not all, of the oil will run down though the hole for the strainer. I too have made a fair few of These. None incidentally for the h22. Mine are very similar to yours other than i cut the strainer hole smaller and beat the lip down rather than weld it on.
So if i have offended you in any way i do apologise.
