Maybe there is suction when the engine is under load or on over run, not just on tickover.. extend the pipe into the car, take it for a spin checking it all the way.

Pull the plug and see if it throws a code? Could be a bit dangerous though! Or way less dangerously can you trace the wire back to the ECU and see what pin it connects to, what colour the wire is etc?

I had a good look a t Vanzep's car last night. This valve does indeed sit in between the fuel pressure regulator and the intake manifold. There are no other hoses connected to it. We could see the EVAP purge valve on the firewall so this is deffo not it.

I would be tempted to disconnect it and see what happens.

Right, i have just been out for few hours , cleaning and pottering about on mine. And i have this valve, also connected between intake and fuel regulator.
But the electrical plug to it was disconnected!!! Not sure if it was disconnected by me when fitting my blue hoses, and forgot to recconect  . Anyway not had any cel codes thrown at all.
I have now reconnected the plug, and reset ecu. So see what difference, if any.

I'll dig around later to see if I can find again where I found out about it being a fuel cut off valve

As the solenoid valves are basically on or off, that's all I can see it being too.

Can't find it on a quick look ffs

Found a Toyota document (god knows how that turned up in my search lol) that says Toyota fitted a solenoid valve here to reduce fuel pressure under some conditions (the solenoid valve vents the vacuum on the fuel pressure regulator, which is exactly how this thing is plumbed in on the JDM ludes)

Will keep searching...
