Manual conversion in 5G
Manual conversion in 5G
Hi gents
I'm on the search for a Lude again, but every sodding time i find a decent 5G in good nick/low miles/good price... its an Auto! My last Lude was an auto (BB5 F22B), and as much as i loved it, I want a manual!
So, probably been asked hundreds of times before, but ballpark figure for a manual conversion Including supply?
Why did Salazar have to sell his already!!!?? lol.

I bought a 1999 donor car with a busted engine for £600. It cost me another £100 to get it towed home from Bournemouth but then I had all the bits I needed for the conversion and of course with nothing missing. I actually made quite a bit of money off the whole thing in the end - sold the donor car Motegi kit, sold my low mileage auto box, plus loads of other spares from the donor before finally scrapping the car for another £125.
It can be well worth the trouble, but it is not an easy task by any means. You really have to know what you're doing to do it properly and solve any issues you have along the way. I have a background in engineering and I carried out the work with a friend who is a professional mechanic. It took us full weekends and a couple of evenings. If you can find a decent auto with good spec and a low mileage, you then need to find a faulty manual with a solid gearbox, both of which take time. i'd keep searching for a decent manual, but see my conversion thread here mate for an idea of the work involved -

Thanks for this mate! Will go and have a read through tonight. However my mechanical knowledge is poor at best lol. I think i will continue to search for a mint manual and keep on waiting!
