Top End Question

Post by jdmdanbb6bb4 » Sat Oct 18, 2014 5:17 pm

Hi

Yesterday my 4th gen decided to shut down on me, when i remove the VC did notice a lot of parts of the balance timing belt and also the timing belt damage, what happend dont know yet. but do to previous experience that i had with my old 4th gen when the Balance Timing Belt got damage, had 2 E.V. damage.

So decided to ask during the waiting on the new Timing Belt and Balance Timing Belt.

What will be a good set up for the my 4th Gen H22A Top end.

My idea for the Top End right now is
1st option. Crower Stage 1 + Supertech Valve Guide + Supertech Valve
2nd option. Skunk2 TS1 + Supertech Valve Guide + Supertech Valve

any suggestion is welcome

What is VC and E.V?? :? Are you sure its damaged the valves?? I recently repaired a H22A with a snapped timing belt and all worked out ok with a new belt and the balancer belt left disconnected!!!

Also you would want a remap with those cams. Altho not absolutely essential, you will get the best benefits out of it.

V.C. = Valve Cover
E.V. Exhaust Valves

like i mention with my old 4th gen did had the same problem 1st time the Timing Belt Snapped and didnt have any problem, but the 2nd time had the balance timing belt snapped and, that is when the exhaust valves of the 3rd cylender got damage.

nop the timing belt right now looks like it when on a diet  and the balance belt is all over the timing covers and camshaft.

so because of that previous experience that i had and for now not knowing if everything is ok on the top end, so decide to do some modification on the Top End so i will be prepare, if i need to remove the head what i can use on the Top End to have everything ready

all depends on how much your willing to pay if your fitting cams you may as well get the valves and guides done and a port and polish save doing it in future

Well that i did had in mind to do a Port & Polish to the Head.
But still the big question is allways the how much money  will be spend.

The only 2 Cams that i have review so far are Crower and Skunk2 Tunner Cams
but i dont kwon if anyone here has try one of this cams so i can have a better idea on what to expect from each cams to make a better choice on which one to buy

tbh, I think most people on here will be using the ATR/TypeS cams if they have changed them. You can get the same gains from them as apposed to stage one S2 cams.

well I have heard nothing but good things about the skunk2 stuff and aside from the atr/type S cams is the only stuff apart from the fabled Jun auto cams I would use
Crower/brian crower have a lot of bad things written about them

I though it depended which one you bought (Crower or Brian Crower) with one being good and one being variable (sometimes ok, sometimes bum droppings). I have no idea which was which though!
