Fuel Lines

Not sure if this is the right section of the forum for this

After two years of owning the 5th gen I decided today was the day to finally fix the exhaust. As soon as the car got put onto the ramp I noticed fuel leaking.

Whilst the exhaust was getting fitted I pulled off the plastic covering the fuel lines to investigate and found a pin sized hole in one of the fuel lines. The condition of the fuel lines hidden behind the bit of plastic next to the fuel tank are pretty shocking.

I'm planning on replacing the full lot, now my question is, is this worth taking on myself or straight to a garage?

Any advice is much appreciated

I had a fuel leak on mine I just cut out the leak an replaced with a bit of fuel pipe an clips hasn't leaked since but I did it at local garage who let me have a ramp an no way I could of done it just jacked up sure other guys on here have other views

Yeah I hear you, I know I could patch up the bit that's actually leaking but the the full lot could really do with being replaced. Rolling about the ground would be my only option if I didn't put it into a garage

Fixed this with rubber fuel hose and jubilee clips. Unsure of whether to replace all the fuel lines or not. Not far off £300 for the lot.

Worth it? Or wait till it starts leaking again?

Have a hunt round for a good used set from a breaker in the mean time?

Only ever seen a prelude once in a breakers and that was a few years ago. Still having a play with making it up myself but I'd need to do away with the Honda clips.
Unsure of how easy it is to bend these pipes without snapping them

If they're anything like brake pipes (never messed with fuel lines) then they're quite easy to bend. Although there is an actual tool you can get to make proper bends in the pipe.

You mention a ramp. Unless you've got 'on demand' access to it, it's easier to pay someone else.
