Gearbox crunchy

Post by MaccaIRL » Tue Oct 20, 2015 7:10 pm

Kind of a weird question but here goes...

I start the car, every gear engages fine when still.
First gear no problem then as I shift into second I get a crunchy grinding noise for half a second before it pops in.
If I wait for the car to warm up however... no crunch.
Also after one grind or whatever it's completely fine.

so my question is.... wff?
Haven't checked gearbox oil or anything but just seems so weird. Would adding lucas oil transmission fix sort things?

Cheers

Firstly...
Check the clutch fluid level and bleed it.

I have a similar issue but with 5th. Mine's due to a gearbox fluid leak (when the fluid gets low it crunches). Perhaps try checking the fluid is where it should be?

I would swap the gear fluid and put some Amsoil MTF fluid in there. You'd need two bottles.
