Spark is not connected to the main relay (see recent post I made on some elses car not starting). The only thing the main relay does is control the on/off of the fuel pump. (It's primarily a safety cutout device really)
Was the swapped in engine a known good runner before?
As this is literally straight after an engine swap, before randomly swapping out things, I would start with the simple stuff e.g. double checking all the electrical connections are all good and tight (including all engine earth's and battery connection) and also check all fuel line connections.
Any issue with any of those will be shown up by blipping the throttle (sudden engine movement and increased load).

Ok this is how understand it as of now. Mate had it running with alternater belt off as there was a squeak to see if it was that. He then reved it a little then it died. The car will turn over just not fire. Main rely clicks foul pump primes but still no spark. Has changed the plugs and the dizzy (off a f20 minde) and the alternater. But still nothing will happen
