BB4 cutting out when hot Idle issue HELP!

Post by lewie fraser » Wed Mar 23, 2016 4:48 pm

it started off I though the dials were out and they might well be but now the car has started cutting out when tuning into a junction in 2nd gear.I recently got the timing belt done aswell and I do feel there is maybe a bit of power loss :?

ever since I have had the car its always idled at 1500 when hot and after the belt was down it was then idling at 1300..

although it says its at 1500rpm it does feel like its going to die sometimes so my guess was my dials but now its cutting out

I blead the system twice and removed and cleaned my fast idle control valve and cleaned it with carb cleaner.all the lines are in good condition with no leaks.i havnt removed and cleaned my IACV yet, would you recommend taking this off and cleaning it? does this sound like it could be a timing problem

any help would be appreciated,I have been in the internet for the past few days looking at this but don't seems to be getting anywhere

have you checked the connections to the vss?
that could explain the odd readings on the rev counter
dont know if a bad connection there would cause it to cut out tho.....but the fact its happening when your turning could in theory point to a loose connection

Could also be mixture related?
What do your plugs look like?

I replaced the plugs when the timing belt was done and I just cleaned the IACV there so I ll find out if it take it for a run tomorrow.

If the timing was not 100% could this be a cause?

Not a cause of high idle, no.
