Fault code finding confusion!Vtec not working!Fuel presure

Post by crigal.bb6 » Thu Aug 29, 2013 12:54 am

Hello, hi, hi everyone. I have been busy fault finding tonight and ended up with one continues light which i believe could mean a faulty ecu, is this correct? Oh getting ahead of my self abit, this is using the blue wire behind the center console in my bb4 using the orange engine management light to find code on the dash so there is no confusion about what i mean.
The reason why i have been doing this is because of my vtec not working. Was expecting it to throw up code for solenoid or presure switch but nothing until i created a fault by disconnecting them only this continuous light. What is the issue or is this not a code? If it is im lucky i just brought a spoon p13 lol. Thoughts please. Cheers.

As far as I remember continuous light means that you haven't got any faults

Or it hasn't registered that you've bridged the connector... It can be a pain to get a good connection on the plug, try the other side of each of the terminals and try using a different paperclip.

I got a constant CEL when I plugged in a bad ECU and I didn't have any paperclips in any connectors.

:? Maybe I read the OP wrong? I read it that the CEL light was constantly lit only while the blue service connector was bridged, rather than all the time :?

You may be right wurly, I was just saying that when I trial fitted my dead Spoon ECU a couple of days ago, the engine fired up but I had a constant CEL, so I reinstalled the original ECU and the light went out.

When we bridged the connector it stayed on one continues light. Did defiantly bridge it properly because we tested it using same proses a few times and gave it 2 different faults to make sure it was working. It flashed correctly for those faults. Do we think that it is the ecu?? If the vtec oil presure switch wasnt working would it flash up a fault?

dont think fuel pressure would cause vtec loss, have you done the obvious things like clean out the vtec solenoid, check your oil, speedo works properly?

i had the same thing with the solid CEL light, i wasnt getting a very good connection on the terminals so i used a thick piece of wire to bridge them rather than a paper clip
