Front track rod ends compatibility?

So the track rod end came but it is different.. it's thinner and shorter and the bend isn't as exaggerated:

and then to top it all off, the old part is embossed with an 'R' (as it's for the righthand side) and the new part says 'L' :?

Might just be the pic, but that looks like an 'L' on the old part too, that's just been slightly mangled?


As for the bend, as long as it clears the inside of the wheel when it's on full lock that side, it's all good

Well I drove it to work this morning and didn't hear/feel and rubbing.. fingers crossed, eh?! Maybe it was cheap because it has been marked incorrectly during manufacture?

Just received my new left-hand side track rod end and its marked with an R! What the hell? The new parts are bent the same way as the old parts but they are marked incorrectly.
Any ideas why, anyone?
