MOT is comming and there's a strange sound

Post by Fons[DutchGuy] » Fri Nov 22, 2013 2:29 pm

when moving from a stand still or after "sporty" braking before a turn when I hit the gas I hear a knock in the front of the car. And when taking speedbumbs the car is making more noise than a Motel bed... Not sure if these things are related but it is woring me since I know my cat is pretty much hallowed
What do you guys reckon it is, haven't been under the car since this noise since I'll have to clear out the garage first moving the project motorcycle will be a pain in the ass I sudenly remember... :?

the knock could be the brake pads either sticking a bit then freeing up or just that they are slightly loose and rattling about a bit. When i serviced the front brakes last time i filed down the tabs at the sides of the pads a bit too much and now they knock and rattle sometimes...just a thought :)
you could try new brake pads and see if that makes a difference - if not then you could look at the driveshafts and suspension

Could be cv joint, knackerd suspension bush or other suspension fault. Best jack her up and have good look and poke about.

Check the downpipe hangers, particularly the one on the back of the engine, in case it's your downpipe banging about.

Hey guys turned out, panic for nothing!!
went to check on my paper work and found out MOT is due august 2014, so no worry's :D
I'm sure the guy who sold it to me said it was due in January and I checked the paper work on the scene of the deal (of course) and was convinced it said January... A well, at least I put the sexy in dyslexic.
Need to get it checked anyway but not with that much of a hurry and I'll save for some lowering springs first to do while I'm underneath there. 8-)
