I'm not even going to try anymore merc  sometimes you just have to accept that things are the way they are.

To quote Kurupt: "You can't make a ho a housewife."

I'll let you relate that somehow merc

(btw that isn't an analogy for leverage)

Ok yep, now I think about it you're right, you will get slightly more radial force.

The difference will be minimal though, compared to the difference of bigger calipers (larger surface area).

Slightly would be underplaying it a little, if it was slight why do super cars have such big brakes?

If you double the distance from the hub you double the effectiveness of the applied force. So a 300mm disc will stop twice as well as a 150mm disc with the same force applied to it. So going from 260 to 290 would have a 15% ish increase in stopping power per disc.

Obviously calipers that squeeze harder over a bigger area have an effect but its not the only major factor

Any idea if you'd want steel, stainless steel or alloy bracket?

An ally one would be more difficult as it should be thicker and helicoiled for strength, but I can probably do them easily enough.
go with steel = lower cost and easier to work ;)

Not reading the numbers in the posts, thought the difference in size was much less than that.

Cost is not much of an issue tbh, but the ally may be harder to get hold of in that thickness.

It looks like the avensis brake disc are 288mm not 290 if your being picky lol
236bhp and 170ft/lb stock
