Corrosion between the hub knuckle and splash guard has caused the splash guard to bulge out badly and press on the back of the hub. Top pic shows the splash guard wedged against the back of the abs ring on the hub and the second pic is with the hub removed so you can see where the hub had been grinding away at the splash guard.
I have lots of other pics (including what the gap between the hub and splash guard should look like!) which I'll post up later on my UKDM profile...
