MOT blues

Post by BMCC » Thu May 09, 2013 3:58 pm

So car went for its MOT today and failed on the front lower ball joint :(
Last time I spoke to Honda about ball joints they wanted to sell me the whole bloody arm. Does the 4th Gen ball joint for this arm fit?

Cheers,

BMCC

The 5th gen is particularly bad for this. I had the same problem with the rear on my 5th, only the whole arm was available but I used 4th gen parts instead.

@BMCC

After looking I dont think they are the same :oops: Sorry. The rears are the same but like other bits of the front, is probably different. However you can get non-OEM ball joints.

There are some 5th gen specific ones. If you are feeling flush there are moog ones in the top link :)

If you take a few measurements you could find out if a 4th gen balljoint will fit.

I've been driving round in my Pulsar while the Lude's been in passing it's MOT. The Pulsar is ok to drive and is pretty quick (She'll be even quicker very soon.....:twisted: ) but you can tire of the dump valve sound. So last night I picked up the Lude and drove home looking forward to the drive. Got on the M77, got close to my favorite bit of road, looked down at the gauges........

Coolant temp: Check!
Oil pressure: Check!
Oil temp: Check!

Pull off J5 onto roundabout, 3rd exit, 2nd gear, foot to the floor.....

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Please God don't let me tire of VTEC!
