Brake disc question
I will be replacing my front brake discs shortly, and have been looking at what is available.
My question is. Is there any need or benifit for fitting grooved or drilled discs, as opposed to standard discs, on a road car?

Re: Brake disc question
Yes. Noise. Lol.
Go with blanks and uprated pads every time.

If you buy cheapies don't get grooved or drilled, I personally stay away from drilled as sometimes after a lot of hammer and a bit of age they can develop little cracks from the drill holes plus they usually just end up filled with crap, I opt for grooved jobbies but get decent ones with decent pads too,
Failing that just get standards which unless your in to really toasting it with plenty of twistys will do you happilly I'm sure..

Pah! I have drilled discs on my UKDM and not had a problem with them.
(Notes about the makes above are good advice.)
Though I would say the only discs I have had warp on me (within a few hundred miles) were a brand new set of genuine Brembo's I put on the Xantia. (Ended up going back to OEM spec Bendix and had no problems with them)
Mintex pads and discs I put on the Volvo were excellent. And they're the best/most sexily boxed car parts I've ever purchased, too!!!

They will be fine. Always blank discs IMO. I don't buy the claimed benefits of drilled or grooved discs, if anything they reduce the contact area of the pad / disc, and generally cost you more.ADS1 wrote:Been looking at these.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brembo-Front- ... 5d3f03ab24
