Looking for bit of advice!!
Hi guys after admiring a lovely looking bb4 sitting on a driveway for a wee while now the chance came up to buy it and I did not hesistate!
However I do not have a clue what the car is worth so thought i would ask the experts.
As you can see its a '91 2.2 auto, guy i bought it from has owned it since 1998 when he imported it from japan. Think it really has been his pride and joy as it is immaculate. He says it was number 814 off the line (is it possible to know this?). Has covered a little over 100k miles and has mot till may!
The only flaws that I can see so far is there is minor rust bubbles on rear arches and also the tin roof has been swapped for a 5th gen glass one. Oh yeah and those wheels
Would really appreciate if you guys could let me know what she is worth and if it would be worth treating the rust and storing her away.
Will try attach pics ASAP
Cheers

i recognise the car and its like you say a very early 1991 BB4 Auto Japanese Import - the tags on the seatbelts will show they are made in 1991 and the vin number thats stamped on the firewall inside the engine bay will show the chassis number ending 814

Yep that looks nice
The arces arent as bad as many we've seen, but definitely need attention - all repairable though (replacement panels are available via the forum)
I thnk £900 might be a little tight, but it is an auto...
I dony mind the wheels tbh, albeit they arent the right one for the car.
Definitely looks likr a good one to invest in.

Re: Looking for bit of advice!!
Thanks guys been driving car for a couple of days now and these really are cracking cars although have to admit auto box isn't doing it for me, been trying to make it sound like a manual
First port of call will be getting arches sorted, original wheels back on then take it from there. Will be keeping my eyes peeled for a 2.2 manual box!
Will keep you guys updated glad to have joined the club

Manual conversion is pretty easy to do on a 4g.
You just need a full kit of parts to swap over (all of which are just bolt on) and there are then two ways of handling the ecu alteration - you can go in and alter it, or leave all wiring as was, put the electric side of the gear selector switch in neutral, tape it up and away you go
although as yours is a very early one, I have a feeling the chassis bracket for the gearbox side engine mount will need some modification... Think on later 4g's the manual/auto brackets are the same, just affects early cars.
Vtecmec knows all about this, as his is also a very early 91 that he converted to manual...
I have a full conversion kit, incidentally.

Yes the arches do need sorted best go with new metal if you want a long term repair. The guy you bought it off had them done before but its bubbled back through The arches on my 94 BB4 started to rust about 5 or 6 years ago and ive never been able to afford a proper repair so got to redo the filler every year which can be a bit depressing. Mind u its never ever been mentioned on any of the MOTs
I think the sunroof will also need attention as i think this is why the arches are rusting.
4th gen ludes can go for anything between £500-£3500 depending on condition and whether or not they have been modified.
I still think they are massively undervalued
