Pushki's Rusty Arches

Post by Pushki » Sat Apr 11, 2015 2:02 pm

I noticed my arches bubbling up about 6 months ago.
So far it's only attacked the inner lip of the arch.

Driver's Side.

Passenger's Side.

I had to act fast to try and stop it from spreading. Dremel back to bare metal.

Painted with BH Electrox zinc primer.

I know this is just delaying the inevitable.
I guess they'll have to be done professionally when I have the time/cash. :(

Opinions and advice welcome.

Scrap it and buy an Almera.

That's not that bad, at least you did the right thing by putting BH stuff on it to prevent it. :hail:

What have you put ontop of the zinc primer? Primer is pourous so won't stay rust proof for long. Seal is with epoxy mastic or dynax uc.

Yer. Mix it 4:1 ratio. You can brush it on. It takea 10 hours to dry but dries like solid sandable plastic. I used it over my rust 2 years ago. Not returned yet.

That's crept in from the inside of the lip itself, because paint is very easy to flake on the 90 degree edges of panels and it gets blasted etc from the road grit, plus the seam between the inner and outer arch skins is bum droppings. Rippled all the way along, letting crap get in and sit there.

That's exactly what the arch beads on ukdm cars are there to (successfully) stop.

I am rather gutted for you Pushki.

Of all the Clean Ludes yours is the one that I thought most unlikely to get rust issues!
