Hi all,
New member here as I'm looking to buy a Prelude and will hopefully become active here if I do.
Looking at a 5th Gen which is in good nick except for the bodywork.
Both arches look like this...
Would this be an MOT fail at its MOT next month?
And should I...
a) Walk away
b) Budget £500 into buying price to repair these
c) Not worry about this amount of rust?
Thanks all.
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

Welcome.
That's not an MOT failure at all, but that is bad rust for a 5g.
There are plenty of 5g's out there without rust as bad as that, so unless the rest of the car is great and it's very cheap, best off buying another, IMO.
You can buy the rear wing repair panels through a member on the forum (would need fitting a painting by a body shop, unless you're a dab hand with a grinder/welder/paint gun )

Interesting. Can you add a photo of all the rusty areas please?Mattbigwood wrote:Have a look at my 1998 BB8 for sale on this forum.vjvj wrote:Thanks for the replies all! The search continues...
Also, not been looking at JDM models. How old are you and what's your annual insurance?
@mercutio - I'm only interested in 5th gen 2.2 vti manual spec cars of which there's 5-10 new ones for sale each month. That said, I don't need a car to get around so can afford to wait for the right one
