Rear wing replacement

Post by paul bristol uk » Thu Aug 04, 2016 12:03 am

I have a set from cebul sitting in my garage and now is the time to get them fitted. So two body shops so far both quoting about the same. One thought he would cut the entire area of the panel out and weld the new one in. The other wanted to take the grinder to it and just replace what is rusty.

Any thoughts on these options?

I've always been told it is best to keep it as local as possible, for example keep as much original metal as possible but make sure you obviously assess the entire area to make sure there's nothing under the paint.... I replaced an arch on my crx, it's a time consuming job for an amateur and easy to get the wrong shape if not done correctly :|

Yep, plenty of shops I've spoken to prefer to keep the repair as small as possible rather than change the whole panel.

yeah its best to use as small a repair panel as poss the size of it just gives you scope depending upon where the rust is

They just haven't been read - they stay in your outbox until read, then move to your sentbox.

Well now have a price for the rear arch replacement using the arches from cebul
Cutting out rust, welding in arches and respraying to blend in(car was resprayed 3ish years ago so I hope it would not have faded) This is subject to any undisclosed work but after a good poke about he could not see any nasties. Recommended by my garage guy as doing excellent work. Price £300 a side. I will let you know what it turns out like its going in about 2-3 weeks time.
