Fitting of chips

Merlin. Sorry I didn't explain my self completely. Yes I have a uk car with jdm engine fitted. The car is currently ran off the uk Ecu so do not have a knock sensor so no code.

However when I install the jdm Ecu it will through the code as it will be looking for a knock sensor.
Yes the engine will have the sensor fitted but apparently when the last owner changed engine he used the uk loom so the wiring for the sensor will not be there.

So if nucleustylzlude can not turn it off with his chrome programming I'll have to run wires and make my own wiring for it

and I'm in no rush.
Will be handy if you can turn it off I'll wait to hear

Hello manger to get under the car today. So can some one confirm that this switch and wiring you can see above the oil filter is the knock sensor.

If so it means well it look ls like it's all connected upside when I swap my ecu over to the jdm item I have all should fine with regards to the knock sensor

Brilliant thank you. Well as that sensor is connected to the main loom, I can only assume that it carries on to the Ecu. So I suppose only one way to find out

Brilliant. I'm not back home till late Saturday night so would be Sunday at the earliest.

So when swapping the Ecu is just a case of discounting the battery then swapping them over. Re one t the battery and job done?
Or is there something else evolved

Remove the 10amp fuse that powers the ECU. Easier than disconnecting the battery.

You're supposed to disconnect the battery?

This is presumably in the same way as step 1 in any Haynes manual for any and every job is "disconnect the battery", right?

If not, then whoops - this engineer hasn't ever bothered doing that!!!
