Battery Woes

LO Guys

I managed to run my battery flat last Sunday whilst watching my local village cricket team and listening to England on the radio at the same time

i have a digital radio which runs off the cigarette lighter so i have to have the car stereo on at the same time to get the sound.
If you have your car ignition on the first click and have your radio on would it take a long time to drain the battery flat

I think i may have had my ignition key on the second click but i wasn't sure for how long and i think this may have been the cause for the drain

I had to get the RAC out which took them over 2 hours.
got restarted and have been driving the car ok this week but today the car only just started , so i have bought a brand new battery to be on the safe side.
My old battery is the original 1997 battery so do you guys think that running it flat has finally finished it off as i only had the car stereo running for a few minutes today without the car running and it really struggled to start the engine

That battery has served you well.
Id splash out and get a new battery or if you like you old one then you could buy a booster pack

That battery has had a great life if it's that old!

Yep, completely draining a battery can finish it off.

Yea they don't make battery's like that anymore, your lucky to get a year or two out of a battery now unless you spend big bucks

Deep cycle dry cell ftw. Expensive though.

Don't waste your money just get one for about £40 from you friendly Motor Factors and stop listening to England,in your heart of hearts you know we will lose!

Once a battery is completely flat it's plates start to corrode.
