The second pic is just where the mesh fabric has been pulled off, uncovering the plastic grille behind.

Yes.
1st PIC of front door speaker
2nd PIC of same speaker with cloth mesh removed
3rd PIC of rear parcel shelf speaker
4th pic of underside of parcel shelf speaker

Why did you remove the mesh cloth in the first place? Spoils originality.

I was TRYING to find out if the speaker cover can come out by itself.

I am now WORRIED that the door card need to come off in order for me to replace the speakers! Eeeeek!

PS: Still have no idea how to replace the front nor rear speakers :-( :-( :-/

i have used 6.5" in front and in the rear... its simple really... but it doesnt fit straight forward... you need to take off the spacers, cos original speakers is 4.25"( i think...) and i used tape (both sides sticky) to perfectly place my rear speakers (no sqrews used). for the front you need to take the door cards out then the spacers too and brake the plastick far end that is stopping 6.5" speakers to slide in properly. I have used only 2or 3 sqrews to fit them..

the rear covers just pops up.. few photos of rear speakers in my post "my new 3rd gen in white"...
