Joking aside, might that not solve your issue though? OK, you won't have variable brightness, but it might dim with the lights then.

Yep, if you're able to dim the other dash lights but not the speedo/tacho, it means you don't have the right dash dimmer module fitted behind the aux dials. My pre-face BB1 is the same after I retro-fitted EL dials.

The whole of the top doesnt dim, just the heater controls, speedo, fuel, temp clocks all stay full brightness. So ill just need one of those dash dimmers? or has it all not been wired correctly?

@NewkidTry splicing and extending the red/yellow wire from the fuel gauges (D8) to B2 on the speedo gauges. See supplement 62SS021 for the wiring diagrams and pinouts.

@Wurlycorner, try connecting your dimmer relay feed to C3 on your speedo. ;)

Please both double check what I've posted, though by coincidence I'll be tidying up the wiring at the back of my speedo this very weekend, if you can wait Newkid, I'll draw up a wiring diagram during the process.

Someones screwed it up, even with the stock clocks, those units should always dim with the lights on, its the wiring.

Interesting...
And strangely enough I just found my marked up schematics and wiring diagrams today from when I did mine

This is what I worked out before doing mine, after translating the oem wiring schematics (which have mistakes in them...)
