@bennyboy your a jinx :lol:

@vtecmec did some more looking into it and going by the american forums if i get the correct dimmer relay (one in the white box) then all shall work fine, it can be rewired but id rather try not to butcher the loom.

Cheers for the help guys and ill update once I source the correct relay.

@vtecmec managed to get one of the L shaped relays thanks to @vanzep so stripped the dash out to change the relay and found out there wasn't one fitted at all. When its fitted with the lights off I lose the temp/fuel gauge and the el dials dim down and the red needles go out.

There is a load of other wiring needing fixed in beside the pedals area so not sure if this may be related but I wouldn't think so, I've got some pics to upload and hoping you and @wurlycorner could maybe help me out with whats what on these. Safe to say tho the wiring is a mess

Right got some problems with other wiring inside the car, these are all on drivers side so hoping someone can help with whats what and what they actually control.

First up is is these 2 wires, they have been cut :o

Image

other end of them is still there so guessing best thing to do is reconnect them?

Image

Next up is this plug, were these two wires go to I don't have a clue and can't seem to find the other ends of them, you can see the plug dangling down as its been disconnected.

Image

Then on the el dials this plug was disconnected, which one is this, I have reconnected it as it was behind the temp gauge.

Hope someone who knows wiring can advise me on what there all for.

Cheers

Only just seen this.
I probably won't be able to look at it till tonight, but on a quick skim, one of the connectors on the el dials should have nothing connected to it (Connector 'A' which is an 8 pin connector I think), so don't worry about one of the things you've posted (the connector that was unplugged).

Question - does your car have front fogs? If so, are they oem and if so, where is the switch?

Front fogs yes. Presume there oem but I'll double check. Switch in centre console as it should be bud.

Try and identify the connectors, ie the number of pins they have and what pin out the cut wire is. This will assist in trying to figure out what is going on.

That's right. That connector is for autos, though for some reason (I did mine about 8 years ago) I do have some wiring going to it. I'm sure I did that for a reason. :? :?

Having had a play with mine, it is C3 that feeds the 'dimming of the clocks' to the EL's, it is Red/Blue. C3 is on the upper blue plug on the right of the back of the clocks and looking at the back of the clocks is the third pin from the right. Check for the presence of wiring to that pin and if there that it changes when the lights are on.

A few other things to check, there should be a box in the engine bay fuse box, extreme bottom right (which the manual marks as to dimmer relay P23/42), make sure that is there, though I assume it is as your heater controls function as intended.

BTW, I've converted mine and not had to change any dimmer relays, etc.; although the manual does refer to an A and B type. I think this is a red herring though.
