Slow Electric Window

Post by CARRisma » Tue Jul 01, 2014 5:08 pm

My car's passenger side electric window has slowed down. I've tried spraying Halfords Silicone Lubricant spray in the B-pillar gutter / trench (not sure of correct phrase) that it slides up and down to no avail.

Am I using the correct type of spray or is the Halfords stuff crap? Do I need to take the door apart and grease something else?

My window went really slow and eventually stopped working. Turned out that the motor was seizing, then packed up altogether.

May be worth taking out the regulator, unbolt the motor, and check the cog on the back. Mine was completely rusty with no sign of grease.

Halfords spray silicone isn't hugely long lasting, but should be fine for that. You could try silicone grease, instead (if you can find some) but I would check out the electrical connections at the motor and the motor itself also, if I were you.

Do the lights dim more when you use the passenger side window, than the drivers side?

I have this same issue. Mine is slower than drivers side. Goes even slower half way down, sometimes sticking and going no lower, then speeds up to the slower place again. Does the same when going back up. Just been lazy and not fixed it since buying my car. After all, my window works fine haha.

My pass window in slower than my drivers one. Not by much but it is  it because it gets used less than the drivers one. Water ingress into the gear set on the motor, corrodes up then seizes up.
