New audio help please

Post by andyconnolly » Fri Feb 27, 2015 10:56 pm

Right I'm looking at putting some bass back into the car for now. Want a decent amp and sub
Not looked at the audio stuff for a while now used to have focal k2 components in my old civic and a ground zero sub and amp but forgot/didn't have time to remove them during the quick sale of the car.
So what can you guys recommend
I know that the preludes standard audio system is not bad so want to add some bass via a 10"/12" sub with a decent amp that I may also use to power a set of components in the near future so thinking a bridgable 4channel amp but not sure who's making the decent stuff anymore at not too high a price

Similarly a bit out of the loop these days on speakers. Used to swear by infinity, but not sure about their subs. Also agree on focal components, but don't know about their subs.

I've got a couple of old pioneer subs and they're ok. Alpine still seem to be holding their name in subs from what I can see. But again, no current experience...

Also interested in what everyone comes back with on this one. Fitted a nice new stereo the other day but really not happy with the poor speaker quality. Been years since I put a nice audio system in. Seems I stopped doing it when I could get insured on more than a 1.2 haha.

Need a budget really.

Factor in cabling, sound deadening and enclosure.

I swear by Hybrid audio but i doubt anyone on here is willing to spend the same price on front speakers as a mint 4th gen.

Dont forget sounddeadening buddy. Its all wasted money without it.The lude is not the best for holding sound together in its stock form. Not as bad as all subies I'v worked on but still vibrates lots.

Just £50 on some sound mat and some felt packing will make all that come together really well.
6th gen Prelude please Mr Honda. RWD 2.4 turbo lude.

Owwww excellent budget. When I get home I'll do a shopping list of what I would spend that on.

I put Focal front door speakers in, and swapped the stock front tweeters for the paired Focal ones. I used their installation series since you don't need the grilles.

The back parcel shelf were replaced with a pair of Focals too, and for sub I mounted a Clarion integrated sub-bass and amp behind the rear seats, where the 4WS controller would be if I had one.

The head unit is an Eonon thing, which is 4x50w out - but the Focals are quite sensitive so it doesn't matter that this power rating is probably ambitious.

All sounds v nice and from the outside looks like stock - which is the way I like it!
