New ignition barrel and keys for 5th gen

Post by Redoug1976 » Mon May 11, 2015 2:21 pm

When I got my 5th gen it came with 1 black key only
I have purchased a new genuine Honda ignition barrel with 2 keys and a red master key.
Is it a case of take the old 1 out and replace with the new barrel start car away I go or is there more to it ie will it need programming to the car etc etc.

Has any body done this before? Or can anybody link me to a thread/guide for it
Thanks

Pics of what I have

You will need to have the immobiliser reprogrammed to accept the new keys. There should be a procedure in the service manual, if time I'll have a look. Our link to the 5th gen is broken at the moment. Search the net for the Honda Prelude 5th gen service manual and have a read ;)

Out of interest, how much did that all set you back?

If you don't mind of course (feel free to pm)

I give £30 for it on ebay 2 weeks ago  . when I had my last lude it never had a red key and honda quoted me around £300 and that was 6 years ago.
