front loom for indicators&fog lights 4th gen

Post by vanzep » Wed Nov 08, 2017 7:09 pm

not 100% sure whats wrong but im not getting any indicators on my BB4 front or back

front bumper was torn off when it was parked up
ive got most of the mangled parts back together apart from the driver side front fog light wiring as the wires have been stripped out of the connector
there have been previous repairs to the wiring in that area and im thinking it might be easier to replace the front loom
would one blown bulb or bad connection be enough to stop all the indicators working :? where does this loom unplug from and how much of a ball ache is it to replace..
i will be checking fuses and relays tomorrow

any info/advice welcome :)

edit:
have been told its a ball ache to replace this loom :(
hoping its a fuse or relay :)

 bumper ripped off while parked? WTF?!
Hope this isn't the phantom grey (not that I wish the damage on the Milano, but obv one is more minty than the other!)

One blown bulb wouldn't stop it all from working, no - that just causes it to flash fast on the side with the blown bulb.

Without looking at a wiring diagram, my money would be on it all earthing back to one point and that having been ripped out/off.
As for replacing... iirc that loom runs all the way across the front of the subframe and up the inner wings in one piece back into the inside of the firewall. The service manual has a section showing all the looms and how they run/are installed/seperate.

Saying that the indicator and fogs have a separate loom that runs through the bumper iirc that's attached to the bumper or bumper bar

its the BB4 thats taken the hit :x it was parked up outside my folks - ive had to report it to the police as its more than a scuff or minor damage this time. They have classed it as a hit&run and are persuing a line of enquiry with Yodel.
drivers side front wing has been clipped and the bumper caught and ripped off the bumper bar - so everything has been pulled forward including the lower loom
list is:torn arch liner, damaged wing, torm undertray, badly damaged bumper which will need replaced and rs lip swapped over and damaged wiring loom - ive got all the parts except front bumper and loom so i will have to repair whats left of them

i cant go through the insurance as they would write the car off so its down to me to fix it with 2nd hand parts and some rattle cans
I will have a look at the earths but electrics are my weak spot when it comes to ludes :?
pain in the arse that i cant drive it to a garage to get it fixed
will have a look at the earthing points

That's for corner lights, if you have them.

Indicators and headlights etc run from a loom across the bottom of the chassis cross member, which is a one-piece loom running via the driver side chassis arm and back into the car, like I described. Pic from when my bb4 was being rebuilt, below;

That's the loom at the bottom, with the connectors hanging out.

That absolutely sucks vanzep, sorry to hear that.
And well done for reporting it, I agree with you on that! Good that they have actually done something and have a lead (useless wankers round my way would class it as minor crime and not bother doing anything :x ) Let's hope the careless rhubarb driver gets done. Plenty of delivery drivers out there that just don't give a jobby.

cheers for the pic wurly :)
there has been some previous repairs to this loom on the drivers side as i can see there are some cut wires and tape around the earth point/bolt on the chassis just under the driver headlight side light so might be beyond my skills to fix

Got it fixed :D

rebuilt the earth connections and replaced the blown hazard fuse under the bonnet and got the indicators working 8-)

got the bumper back in place and pulled the front wing back into shape so it looks like it will hold for the time being
didnt reconnect the front fog lights as one of the connectors is smashed so will have to add that to the list of jobs to do
wont be fixing the paint will be leaving it for now.

thanks for the pointers/help

and thanks to firstlude who has offered me a front bumper free of charge ;)
very kind gesture and much appreciated

if it wasnt for the help on the forum i wouldnt be able to manage
