To clarify - that's In Car Entertainment - not frozen water

Reading data from Prelude ECUs (almost free solution inside!

Post by AeroNotix » Wed Nov 29, 2017 9:27 pm

Hi,

Wanting to know if this will work on my 5th gen prelude: http://allegro.pl/przejsciowka-adapter- ... 86450.html

I asked in another thread of mine but I got no answer. I've searched on the forum for all threads which reference this adapter but none of them specifically say that on the 5th gen this adapter doesn't work.

I know about the paperclip method and that works fine but I'm interested in if I can hook up the prelude to modern apps like Torque pro and see live data from there (for example seeing the live lambda sensor values).

Even if I can't get live data, even just the error codes would be nice to have.

So, definitively, does that adapter work on 5th gen EUDM preludes?

Thanks for the info. I've seen hondash and while it looks great I'm just interested in seeing if that adapter will work. The adapters are cheap as chips and I can use my current datalogger with it if it works.

Which applications does hondash work with? Their own or most currently available odb2 readers?

Right well the adaptor is cheap so I will purchase it and post back with results.

Yeah let us know how you get on - i have a cheap obd2 bluetooth dongle and always wondered what the compatibility between the OEM connector and the big OBD2 port was (i'm sure its just serial data, maybe just slightly different levels)

There is a guy on here a year or so ago, that made up some software/hardware to live view engine management data on honda's/preludes...
Can't remember who/where the thread is, though, now :?

Only thing that works is hondash or tester from honda

This because of the obd2a

Right, and I will if the adapter doesn't work. I am just interested if the adapter will allow communication with off the shelf (cheap) apps. If the ECU is ODB2 and the adapter just allows you to connect normal bluetooth ODB2 plugs I hope it would work.

That said, I've heard that the actual ODB2 protocol is slightly different (ODB2a vs ODB2b) so I will find out.

Obd2 on early Hondas is not like it is today.

Monday's £300 obd1 conversion and the hondata app. I can monitor everything.
